Community Information

windmill pictureLocated southeast of Denver and northeast of Colorado Springs, Colorado’s Central Plains is a great place to raise a family.  There are many small tight-knit communities where people still know how to be good neighbors.  It‘s where there is a “high quality of life.”  We just know it’s a nice way to live.

Hawthorne & Associates is proud to represent buyers and sellers from all over the region with most of its properties located in Lincoln County, Elbert County, and Kit Carson County. Lincoln County has a population of approximately 6,000 with the county seat located in Hugo.  Highways 40, 287, 24, 71 and I-70 intersect in Limon which is known as the Hub City and is the largest town in the county.  Limon is notable to travelers for its many restaurants, motels and vehicle services which accommodate nearly 24,000 vehicles a day traveling I-70 during the summer.  The Central Plains’ most populated county is Elbert County with over 19,000 residents.  Many families who work in the Denver metro area have moved to western Elbert County to leave the commotion of the city behind.  Kit Carson County lies at the eastern most edge of  Colorado and has a flourishing irrigated agricultural economy.  Residents of Colorado’s Central Plains have found a quiet country livestyle with homespun values still intact.
